The Schubert Report...10/14/08

If I mentioned Schubert to anyone who knew one little thing about music written before the 20th century, they'd probably first think of his immortal "Ave Maria" melody that touches a lot of people's hearts, whether or not they are Catholic. Maybe they just love a beautiful tune that speaks of peace, and that's good enough for them, never mind the content of the lyrics.

Or, if they're particularly knowledgeable, "Die Forelle," aka "The Trout Quintet" might fall easily from their lips.

"Show Me Heaven: The Story of a Soul."

This story is one that pertains to yours truly, as I see it from my 30-year-old perspective. I wrote it precisely from the heart, without a lot of analysis or editing, because I wanted those who read this work to dive in and feel what I feel, and have always felt about one of the most powerful, magical, healing Voices this side of the Cosmos.

I got listening to some Kitaro, and it served to remind me of the work he did with this Voice...thus inspiring me to write the following...

NOT YES!

Okay, folks...here's the lowdown from Jon Anderson's blog on MySpace...the band's decided to tour without him, and to add insult to grievous injury to their bandmate, none of the guys, except for Alan White, have called Jon to see how he's doing.

Remember, if you will, that back in May, Jon had an asthma attack that nearly did him in. Well, he seems to be on the mend, but not to the point of being able to tour just yet.

Barbie's Letter to Santa--My personal take...

You've seen it making the occasional rounds around the 'Net--that funny, outrageous "Letter to Santa" from Mattel's most popular doll.

In that letter, 'Barbie' makes some demands for being updated for the latter part of the 20th century, as far as new professions to be featured and the like. Well, while I would agree with the 11.5" wonder's assessments, I'd like to make some further--and dare I say it--rather amusing suggestions to the Mattel company, for not just Barbie, but her consort, Ken.

A Review to Kick Off a New (School) Year...

I am back after yet another hiatus. Thankfully, this hiatus ends today, since my dad is back in school. Instead of trying to write for all five of my blogs each day, I am going with a "weekly column" approach, sort of like a newspaper. It's easier on my sanity, as I have other things I want to do to earn money, and it's easier because I don't have my own computer yet.

However, that being said...

Tutu Dances to the Tune of 'Free Music'; Music in the News 5/7/08

Archbishop Desmond Tutu loves free music.

Yes, you read that correctly. Desmond Tutu is all about the free music movement. So, who is this guy and how did he manage to get involved in the first place?

Temporary Hiatus

Afternoon, everyone...

I am writing to inform whoever reads this blog regularly that I have some things to sort out and tend to for the rest of the month.
Some of these things have a sharp learning curve and I need the unfettered time to focus on these non-blogging related activities.

So I am apologizing in advance for any inconvenience to my regular readers. I will return to the blog no later than May 1st.

Safe and Blessed Journey,

Tuesday Site Review--YouLicit.com 4/8/08

I went browsing around at Mozilla.com for FireFox bookmark extensions and whatnot, and found some real treasures, but one site that really caught my attention was Youlicit.com.

Stumbled Site: makemylogobiggercream.com 4/4/08

I think I've just come across one of the most creative advertising maneuvers I've seen:

"Make My Logo Bigger Cream."

This satirical site is the creation of Agency Fusion, a web development company that helps trained designers build and maintain sites that appear precisely the way they're supposed to.

Movie Review for 4/3/08: "Happy Feet" (2006)

Last week I reviewed "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy," one of my new favorite movies.

This week I'm reviewing what has to be one of the cutest, funniest and most environmentally aware animations ever made since I don't know when!
